Initial results
Up to now, the whole Binh Lam village, Phuoc Hoa commune, Tuy Phuoc district has 689 households, of which 201 households grow flowers, annually selling about 61,000 pots of various flowers to the market on the occasion of Lunar New Year with a revenue of over 20.5 billion VND. In addition, some households are experimenting with growing new types of ornamental flowers such as roses, gerberas, primroses, bell flowers, lisianthus ... initially bringing high economic efficiency.
Up to now, Tuy Phuoc district has invested in upgrading the connecting road from DT 640 road to Binh Lam tower, renovating the roads in the craft village area to serve production and sightseeing and tourism activities in the craft village; implementing the detailed construction planning project at a scale of 1/500 for Binh Lam flower village; investing in upgrading the connecting road from DT 640 road to Binh Lam tower, 1.44km long, costing 35.1 billion VND (phase 2021-2023); expanding the road surface to 5m wide, paving asphalt and lighting system on the main road from DT 640 provincial road to Binh Lam tower, 1.2km long, total cost 2.2 billion VND; expanding the cross-road surface to 4m wide, paving asphalt and lighting system from Dun bridge to Binh Lam tower, 700m long, total cost 1.6 billion VND.
Developing rural tourism associated with OCOP
To continue effectively implementing Binh Lam Flower Village, Tuy Phuoc District People's Committee has developed a flower growing model plan aiming to exploit tourism activities in Binh Lam Flower Village, Phuoc Hoa Commune in 2025.
Vice Chairman of Tuy Phuoc District People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Xuan shared: We aim to develop Binh Lam flower village by the end of 2025 to have 10 households participating in growing ornamental flowers all year round combined with tourism. Improve the material and spiritual life of rural people, contributing to the success of the new rural construction program. Exploit the potential, develop the Binh Lam flower village project, promote the development of rural tourism associated with the program "One commune, one product". Build solidarity in the community, raise awareness and responsibility of people in forming a flower village combined with Binh Lam tourism.
At the same time, Tuy Phuoc District People's Committee conducted a survey and selected households to participate in the flower growing model with the aim of exploiting tourism activities in Binh Lam Flower Village; investing in a concentrated flower and ornamental plant production site, promoting the development of new, high-quality breeding sites to meet market demand; promoting the potential strengths of Binh Lam Flower Village in combination with historical and cultural relics and typical cuisine in the area to serve service and tourism development; building and arranging flower streets, and concentrated flower and ornamental plant production in the flower village and flower garden.
Build and invest in flower and ornamental garden houses combined with sightseeing tours, renovate and embellish fences, gates, and decorate tourist activity spots; at the same time, mobilize flower and ornamental production and business households with potential to replicate the model in the coming time, produce flowers and ornamental plants combined with tourism; support the activities of Binh Lam Flower Cooperative to produce and consume flowers for members; organize cultural and historical events associated with the Spring Flower Festival, Half Marathon, and the 2025 Coastal Festival. Provide training to improve knowledge for technical staff working in the field of flowers and ornamental plants. In addition, create conditions for some flower and ornamental plant producers to receive short-term training in reception skills, communication, and guiding tourists.
“With the goal of developing the flower and ornamental plant growing craft village associated with tourism services to visit Binh Lam tower, applying scientific and technological advances to production on the basis of organizing production according to the value chain to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of products, increase income for people, Tuy Phuoc District People's Committee hopes that Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee will have policies to support the development of high-tech flower growing areas of Binh Lam Flower Craft Village; organize vocational training courses on planting, caring for and shaping ornamental plants; support localities in building a number of short-term flower variety development models in the craft village; guide and support the building of collective brands for ornamental plants in Binh Lam and provide training to improve tourism skills", said Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Xuan.
